9 Green Cleaning Tips For Whole House

Want to be Green? Start with cleaning your house.

Here are some tips which will help your house to be tidy and clean and will make you a bit more Green.

What you will need:

  • Vinegar: Distilled white vinegar is the do-it-all of natural cleaners & no house should be without a giant bottle of the wonder liquid. Simply mixed with water, or with any of the below items, it can clean just about anything.
  • Baking Soda: Baking soda works great when you need a soft scrub & something more abrasive than liquids only.
  • Hydrogen Peroxide: This is a disinfectant that can be used to bleach, kill bacteria, mold, and even salmonella.
  • Citrus Fruit: Fruits such as lime, lemon and grapefruit can help polish, bleach, eliminate mildew and of course add a fresh fragrance to the home.
  •  Essential Oils: A few drops can make a cleaner antibacterial and add a nice subtle scent. However, use with caution, as it is reported to be harmful to some pets.
  • Mustard powder: ideally combats fat.
  • Used newspapers.

1. Mustard powder is ideal for washing the dishes. Just pour it on greasy dishes and rinse it with hot water.

2. Universal recipe for cleaning the entire house- mix 1: 1 vinegar and water + a few drops of lavender oil.

3. For window cleaning vinegar can be mixed with water in a ratio of 1: 5, then applied to the surfaces of the windows and wiped off with a soft cloth. Also vinegar can be replaced with lemon juice. Another way to clean windows is with used newspapers.

4. To combat the stains in the bathtub or sink you can use vinegar and baking soda. Pour vinegar on the affected area, pour some baking soda and wait for 5-7min.

5. Soda also can help in cleaning the oven. Simply apply the powder on the surface of the oven and leave overnight. Warm oven can be cleaned with salt.

6. Salt also cleans the pipes. Salt should be washed off with boiling water.

7. Green Air Freshener:

  • 100 ml gin, vodka, or rubbing alcohol
  • 50 ml filtered water
  • 20 – 40 drops of essential oil, a few suggested oils are: peppermint, jasmine, citrus oils.

8. To bleach the fabrics use  Hydrogen Peroxide. Just add 2 tablespoons of it to the water.

9. Corn starch is suitable for carpet cleaning. Just pour some starch to the surface of the carpet and then vacuum the carper.
