Tamarind Benefits: Flu, Be Gone!

Tamarind is a strange looking for Europeans fruit, indeed like any tropical one. From the first try I loved tamarinds taste but now I use this fruit not only like a natural substitute for sweets and sugar but like a flu remedy.

In Asian countries tamarind was known for centuries because reliefs sore throat and reduces fever.

Now staying in Thailand I am very curious about traditional ways and recipes which can help to deal with everyday health disorders.

Tamarind is a really effective way to cure Flu due to it’s plentiful nutrients and phytochemiclas:

  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin B
  • Tannins
  • Saponins
  • Alkaloids
  • Calcium

How To Use Tamarind?

— tamarind bark reduces fever ( other holistic ways of treating cold an fever can be found here). To make a remedy just put bark in a boiling water and let it boil for 10-15 minutes. Should be drank 3 times during the day.

— tamarind pulp reduses sore throat and can ease stomach pain. To get an effect just eat tamarind or make a tamarind water ( by mixing tamarind with warm water).
